Research Projects

Playful Interactions with AI

People, not only children but adults, as well, play to explore, experiment, observe, and learn about the unfamiliar world around them. This is not different with the new and quickly evolving AI technologies.

Cultivating Creativity in UI/UX Design

UI/UX designers constantly navigate the challenge of creating innovative, standout designs while keeping users oriented and meeting client needs. We tackle these challenges by addressing design fixation, concept drift, and other obstacles to help UI/UX designers find their creativity flow.

Empowering Open Source Software Communities

Open-source software (OSS) thrives on community collaboration, yet the dynamics of discussion often dominated by a small group of contributors. Our research unpacks how developers, designers, and end-users interact in OSS projects and aims to make OSS communities more inclusive and user-centered.

Decision Making Support

Effective group decision-making is critical but group decisions are often slow, biased, or dominated by a few voices. Our research focuses on decision-making support tools that enhance collaboration, reduce bias, and ensure every perspective is heard.

Supporting Usable Privacy Calculus

The emerging data economy has prompted the invasive data practices of many app and service providers. Data privacy, therefore, now concerns almost every types of technology and their users. However, those concerns are often competing with users' utility-driven adoption and usage decisions and companies' data collection and monetization incentives. How do we support users in navigating in this landscape and technology designers in creating systems that align with users' privacy values?
